Consider making small or large "corner reflectors" from index cards or folders to hold... or attach to the objects being measured. It will virtually eliminate data spikes by delivering clean reflection of waves.

I have a bunch of these! I had one break for unknown reason- (not student abuse) Arbor sent me a replacement in less a week. Made me feel like "of course we'll replace it!!!"

My students loved the Go Motion Sensor because they could see their data being graphed as it was being collected. This is a very interactive tool that keeps students interested in the data collection process. It was well worth the money!!

I avoided probe-ware type purchases for a long time- I thought "blackbox" science was not informative to the kids.
After using the motion sensors I am a convert. Students get to experience so much more in depth experiences using this kind of tool
