As soon as I gave my students these glasses they were enthralled! They didn't want to take them off. Using them in combination with the spectrum tubes was even better. The glasses provided a quick and easy way to show my students how light can be broken up into its spectra. Some of the students did break the glasses, but they were inexpensive and can be replaced easily.

I bought these for my students after our chapter on light. This was a homerun. They loved the glasses ...and it clearly explained and demonstrated refracting light better than I could it explain it. Taking their picture with a flash was the icing on the cake!

The glasses are the perfect way to end a lesson on how light behaves. The hardest thing about the glasses is collecting them all when the lesson is over...students love them!

I use these to teach stellar spectra. Students can easily see the spectral lines when I demonstrate with different gaseous elements. It helps them to understand that we can learn a lot about what stars are made of just by studying the light they emit. It also helps them to understand that each element has its own unique spectrum. They can also be used to demonstrate diffraction with a laser pointer.

I use these glasses to demonstrate element spectrum identification. I use them with spectrum tubes. The whole class can see the atomic spectra at one time. I have them draw the lines they see on a blank visible spectrum diagram.

After explaining how the glasses worked I gave them a miniture LED flashlite to visualize the color spectrum produced by the LED. I experimented with several different types of lamps but decided on the LED as it produced a much higher contrast and visual effect than regular lamps.

Comments about Arbor Scientific Rainbow Glasses, Single:

They've been useful to show wave characteristics of light because they are diffraction gratings. Also, I use them for participants to view a laser show in the dark. It allows a perception of 3D because we have two eyes viewing the patterns. Good stuff.

Comments about Arbor Scientific Rainbow Glasses, Single:

They do a good job of showing the spectra of lights. With a dark room and a hydrogen bulb, you can easily see the Balmer Series. My order was all the same color. I think it's great to receive glasses of several colors so students can pick which they like best.
