Thermodynamics: The heat is on!
Posted on January 1, 2007 by Chris Chiaverina
Thermodynamics and the thermal properties of matter are inextricably linked to daily living. Most everyone has an innate sense of hot and cold, checks the temperature outdoors before deciding what to wear, knows that spilled water will eventually evaporate and not to expect a snow storm on a hot July day. This post was posted in CoolStuff Newsletters, Energy and was tagged with thermodynamics, heat transfer, heat, energy, properties of matter

Exploring Matter: Chemistry Demonstrations
Posted on October 1, 2005 by Chris Chiaverina
Chemistry is all about studying matter and how it changes. Fortunately many characteristics of matter are macroscopic, that is, we can directly observe them without the aid of any lens other than those in our own eyes. We can watch as matter is mixed or reacted and ultimately may be able to infer something about its deeper, more abstract structure. This post was posted in CoolStuff Newsletters, Chemistry and was tagged with density, properties of matter, Exploring Matter, Chemistry, disolve, Patty Carlson
