Simple Harmonic Motion, Conservation of Energy
A perfect example of how new technology can be used to enhance traditional labs. First, experiment with different weights, lengths, and amplitudes to find out which affects the period. Then use a photogate to measure the bob's maximum speed and a motion sensor to see how the speed changes throughout the swing. We've included a whiteboard where students can record the bob's vertical displacement and predict the maximum velocity using conservation of energy. Includes pendulum face, string, bob, grid, and bolts.
Requires Workshop Stand, Timer and Photogates.
