Additional Details

This "diver" dramatically demonstrates three properties of air!

The Cartesian Diver is a classic science experiment that explores the properties of air. Air has weight, exerts pressure, and can be squeezed and compressed. The Cartesian Diver demonstrates all three properties using hands-on experiments. Start with a two-liter plastic bottle filled with water. The diver will float and sink in the bottle when pressure is applied to the outside of the bottle. The Cartesian Diver is also a great way to demonstrate the concept of buoyancy. Single Cartesian Diver is dressed up like a colorful squid that sinks and swims in the water.
