Just place this device on your overhead projector, and the stretched spring's shadow creates a large sine wave. Turn the crank to cause the wave to travel along the wall. Make marks on the projector stage to demonstrate wavelength, phase, and phase angle. Add a flag to the spring to show the motion of a single particle in the wave.
