Excessive exposure to UV radiation can result in premature skin aging. In the most serious cases of long term excessive exposure, skin cancer and cataracts may develop. Protect your health from UV hazard with knowledge of your environment!
This UV meter detects both atmospheric UV-A and UV-B light ranging from 280 nm to 400nm. It displays the current atmospheric UV index, and the UV Irradiance. A graphical meter along side a UV color code chart makes it easy to determine the level of UV risk. Students can compare this to UV beads to study the correlation between the depth and speed of color change caused by UV exposure of the beads.
The UV meter is broadband and is not able to detect the narrower frequencies of UV light emitted from artificial sources such as a UV flashlight or UV lamp.
