Purpose
In this activity, students design, test, and justify a launcher configuration (angle, pressure, and
projectile mass) that can consistently land the ‘football’ (projectile) within a 1-meter target zone
located 20 meters away — just the right distance for a friendly pass!
Discussion
Predict how launch angle and pressure affect the projectile’s range, compare predicted range and refine to find the best configuration. Which variables had the biggest effect on range? How close were the results to your prediction? How does this experiment relate to real football throws?
