Mega Hoberman Sphere

Give the whole class a structure they can walk around, not just watch

The Mega Hoberman Sphere uses the same angulated scissor-strut mechanism as the original, scaled up to a size the entire room can see and interact with at once. A built-in pulley system helps pull the structure open from 18" to a full 4.5 feet in diameter, big enough for several students to reach in, walk around, or help expand it together instead of watching one demo unit from the back row.

Six latches lock the sphere in its fully expanded position, so it holds open on its own, no one has to keep hold of it, and it won't unexpectedly collapse while students are close to or reaching into it. It's still just plastic and geometry, no motor, no batteries, only a bigger version of the same mechanical linkage.

Works as a whole-class engineering demo, a science center or lobby centerpiece, or an assembly-scale visual for teaching transformable structures.
